Chicago-made 10w Williamson push-pull amp.
Somewhat rare (Hallicrafters was better known for ham radios).
According to an ebay seller:
"This was designed by the same engineer who later designed amps for Radio Craftsmen, including the model 500 and 500A...
Stated frequency responce is +,- 1db 9 to 100,000 cps at 10 watt output and THD is less than 0.14% at 10 watt output. Measured output is 14 Watts into 8 ohms."
Here is one for sale in June 2025: A84 2025-06
Here was one being offered in 2004: old sale
Components:
In the two columns below are pictures of my two A84s. | |
---|---|
Both worked & sounded great for a few years, until 2013, when one started squealing, | |
and the other developed a huge "leaky" capacitor, I mean literally leaking and dripping oil. | |
For a long time I've been planning to restore these. When I do, I'll post more pictures. | |
Serial no. 533. Inherited from my father. | Serial no. 217. Bought for $204 in Mar 2003 |
